Summer Lovin'

From Months 2 & 3
IT'S BEEN A FULL SUMMER, that's for sure. We're baffled it's almost September, the Schnoo has made it past 3 months and Aunty Jade moves into her dorm at NYU on Sunday (just imagine 6 girls, 1 bathroom...). Wow. Nuts. It's been a whirl-wind of visitors and outings the last few months. After Opa jetted, Grandma Amy and Grandpa David arrived for a week, followed shortly thereafter by the Shipleys for 2 weeks. Flynn started sleeping through the night at 9 weeks (bless her cotton socks) and has recently discovered her hands. She's full of smiles and coos, and is remarkably adept at telling us what she needs before last-resort wailing.
What's next for the Dillahunts? Tash & Flynn leave for Ireland Sept 1 to visit Omey and Great-Granny Nanny. Then we all head to Seattle mid Sept to visit the Browning-Goldthwaite clan. Sooooo, ciao for now and we'll see you back here in October with new pics and news.

Opa(trick)

From Opatrick
DAD SWOOPED IN for another quick visit to meet his grand daughter and hang out with us for a few days. The time was, as always, never enough, but we managed to get in some solid QT—and a couple of tasty home-cooked meals (featuring Dad's famous fried potatoes).

The Woodring-Callahan Estate

From Hotel Woodring
WELL, LET ME TELL YOU... We arrived to a glistening pool, fluffy poolside towels, a decadent cheese and meat platter, and a fridge stocked (perfectly uniformly we might add ala Sleeping With the Enemy) with icy cold beverages. A dinner of cedar-plank grilled salmon and fresh greens from the garden was served promptly at 7 pm, followed by fresh berries, ginger cake and whipped cream. Delish. Flickering tiki torches and candles lit up the conversation, despite the rude glare of the adjacent parking lot spotlight. (Ryan, I highly suggest you buy a bb gun and take care of that). The morning met us with fresh coffee, pastries, slow jazz crooning over the beatbox and small-town neighbor watching. We're proud to be the first NYers to make the not-so-arduous trek out to Pennsylvania to visit Ryan and Shona, recently engaged. Sa-weet!

Fun with the fam (and friends)

From Weeks 3-6
TIME FLIES. Has it really been 3 weeks since our last post? Holy macaroni. Well, Flynn is growing like one of those grow-a-girlfriend dolls—fast. This little bean pole wears 3-6 month clothes and is already walking and talking. Well, not really, but we have a strong sense we're going to wake up tomorrow to a find ourselves living with a teenager. Oy. We had great giggles with Omie and Aunty Jade, who, it has to be said, looks superstar cute in this photo. Can we say People Magazine, anyone? "Sassy director Jade Edwards was spotted strolling along Park Slope's trendy 5th Avenue this week with newborn niece Flynn."

It was wonderful to see Omie connect so deeply with her grand daughter. No doubt they're going to have many exciting adventures together over the years. Her help and support was invaluable the last few weeks. Now if she could just clone herself so she can move to NYC and still living her life in Europe, that would be perrrrfect!

Grandma Jan and Grandpa Marty

From J&M visit

Schnoozing in the Cherry Orchard

From Botanic Gardens
TASH & FLYNN's second excursion into the world without Dad (the first was to the food coop—yeah, ridiculous) landed us on the grass in the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens with the Powers' and the visiting Sagehawks.

Raise a glass to Lon & Suz!

From Wedding bells
WE SUCCESSFULLY VENTURED OUT for our first cocktail party since the arrival of Little Schnoo on Saturday to celebrate the engagement of dear friends Lon and Suz. It was fun! The swanky soirée took place at one of the couple's favorite spots in Fort Greene, Olea. Family and friends mingled and munched on delicious Mediterranean finger food as the sangria and champagne flowed. It was a super warm up for the upcoming real deal in August. Check out Olea's menu at http://www.oleabrooklyn.com/

Flynn & Friends

From FF&F
FLYNN IS GOING to be one rad lass with such a talented bunch of Brooklyn and Manhattan buddies eager to teach her their trade. According to John she has perfect hands for playing the bass. Dave vows to have her crisping bacon to perfection by 2 years of age. And Robyn's going to help her prove the Flynn Effect is not just a theory. That's our girl!

The Coolmas Meet Flynn

From Omi and Ami

From Omi and Ami
WE WERE THRILLED to bits (and bloody relieved!) when Omi and Ami made surprise visits from Seattle and London to meet their first grand child and see how the new 'rents were fairing. Thanks to them we are fully kitted out with "stuff" (stroller, rocker, curtains, porch plants, clothes, you name it) and a heck of a lot more rested than we would have been without their help in the kitchen and scoldings to, "Go take a nap NOW!" Omi will be back with Auntie Jadey this Saturday for 10 days to help Mum transition when Dad heads back to work (boooo) and Ami has been instructed to drag Grandpa David, Auntie Sarah and Funkle Will out for a visit in July—if not sooner. :)

Flynn McKinley Dillahunt

From Flynn McKinle...
FLYNN McKINLEY DILLAHUNT came into this world on May 15th at 11:47PM in a hurry. In the words of the midwife, "She almost bounced off the bed." The wee 'lil fightin' Irish bonny lass weighed in at 7lbs. 15 ozs. and measured a lanky 21 3/4". So far she's knocked out everyone she's come into contact with. She likes Bob Marley and Ella Fitzgerald, but has yet to develop a taste for German techno. She's on the fence about French house music, but definitely likes disco. Her favorite words are, "Breeeeemp" and "AAAAHHHHHHH!"

Mum and dad are doing fine, apart from having contracted a serious case of baby-crazy; "You pooped. How cute!" Natasha was a champion during the labor (from now on to be referred to as 'fun') and managed to evict 'lil Flynn in under 24 hours. The birth crew—Team Little D—rocked the house. Thank you Joan, Madeleine, Sally and Tess. Midwives, their assistants, doulas and acupuncturists are better than ice cream. You put the fun back in 'fun.'

And again, thank you to our amazing family and friends for the incredible outpour of love and support. Flynn is a very lucky lass, indeed.

Our Little Schnoo

From Little Schnoo

She was born at home just before midnight on Thursday, May 15, weighing in at 7 lbs 15 ounces and measuring 22 inches. As of yet she is unnamed, but we're very close... promise. Thanks to everyone for the overwhelming love and support. We'll write more later, but for now we're too busy falling in love. Enjoy the pics. xo

Little Red Dress

From Red Dress
NOT SO LITTLE TUMMY. Little D (also fondly referred to as the Schnoo-Schnoo) is getting on 37 weeks in these portraits taken by our talented and dear friend Lana last week in Dumbo. Please note the spec of brown on Tash's stockings just above her right knee—that would be evidence of the heavenly Jacques Torres warm chocolate chip cookie she just scarfed.

Home with the de Pollas

From The de Pollas

IT WAS A FULL HOUSE here for 4 nights when the de Pollas swooped in for a quick layover on their way to Costa Rica. It was fantastic to see them and we hope they return to NYC soon!

All Hail to the DJQ!

From DJQ Heaven
THAT'S RIGHT: The Davejohnsonque is the baddest hunk of stainless steel love around. It was our first purchase in the new digs (which rock by the way) and has already served us succulent rotisserie chicken, aromatic rack of lamb, big fat hot dogs, buffalo burgers, juicy marinated steaks and mountains of sweet grilled onions. Screw ovens man, this thing is the bomb. Why DJQ instead of BBQ? Since we had to turn down Dave's plea to name Little D after him, we thought this was an appropriate second best.

Tooting in the New Year!

From New Year's Eve
PRATT'S COLLECTION OF STEAM WHISTLES are super cool and super LOUD! Check out the album for more pics from our fun night out with Meghan, Alex and the McKaises. We were almost inclined to put ear muffs on the belly to protect Little D's newly developed hearing. But the scrummy pink bubbly probably did the trick. Great parents we're going to be... ha-ha. 2008 got off to a galloping start with the long-awaited thumbs up on our move . Yup, twice the space and 5 doors to close, here we come!
